The second form is individual characters, now so far appearing to be divorced from DLC chapters, which join the player's party as bonus units when accessed after purchase. These chapters can be replayed any number of times for experience and rewards (save for those rewards that are one-time only). The standard individual chapter format returns from Awakening, with each having variable difficulty and with some of them involving cameo appearances of characters from earlier Fire Emblem series titles. The Dragon's Gate also gives a new option which allows players to redeem serial numbers found in certain products, such as Fire Emblem Cipher.ĭownloadable content is available in three forms.
At the Gate, the player can access the options to purchase downloadable content from an online store, then play it. With the exception of the DLC campaigns, purchasing and accessing DLC is again handled through a location on the game's world map, the Dragon's Gate, which the player can access from Chapter 6 onward. The use of DLC in Fates is heavily expanded upon compared to its predecessor.
